Jose, as an American Latino, was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He graduated from Marlton School of the Deaf in Los Angeles where had the pleasure to represent Marlton as a Class of 2014 valedictorian with a 3.725 GPA. He enjoyed a broad high school experience as evidenced by his involvement in a wide variety of leadership, interscholastic, and extracurricular activities such as Cross Country, Varsity Boys' Basketball and Volleyball, and Drama Club. He was captain of the academic decathlon team and participated in the Gallaudet Academic Bowl Competition, both regionals and nationals, at Gallaudet University. He was also in student body government for three years.
Since graduating, Jose has attended Rochester Institute of Technology where he completed the first year with a 4.0 GPA and made the Dean's List. He plans to continue to work on his Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. He loves engaging his passion with technology, in which he explores the innovations that can contribute to helping the Deaf community. He writes that he has "a high expectation of himself" and so he lives by the motto, "Impossible is Nothing."
